Beckman’s experience and fresh ideas have positioned Corte Madera as a leader on disaster resilience, responsible housing policy, and good governance.

CORTE MADERA, CA — Two-term Corte Madera Mayor Eli Beckman today announced his candidacy for the California State Assembly District 12. With seven years of local government experience, Beckman will bring his proven track record of innovative problem-solving and collaborative leadership to the state legislature to help Marin and Sonoma residents.

As mayor, Beckman helped place Corte Madera on strong financial footing, giving local government the opportunity to switch from crisis management to proactive planning that continues to benefit residents today. He pushed to develop Marin's first long-range Climate Adaptation Plan, led wildfire safety initiatives, created an emergency housing assistance program that became a template throughout the county, and guided Corte Madera through the COVID-19 pandemic while maintaining fiscal responsibility. His leadership has earned him endorsements from a diverse coalition of elected officials and respected community leaders throughout Marin and Sonoma counties.

"California is at a critical turning point," Beckman stated. "We're facing unprecedented challenges—from climate change and housing affordability to infrastructure needs and budget constraints. Now, we can add to that list a full-on attack by the Trump/Musk administration in Washington. My experience in local government has given me the experience needed to make tough decisions, doing more with less when the budget is tight, finding creative solutions, and always keeping our community's best interests at heart."

A native of the North Bay, Beckman brings a unique perspective to state politics. As a small business owner, and founder and CEO of HAUS+, a sustainable prefab ADU company, he understands the economic challenges facing small businesses and entrepreneurs. His extensive regional leadership roles, including serving as North Bay Division president of CalCities and board member of MCE Clean Energy and Transportation Authority of Marin, have prepared him to advocate effectively for North Bay communities in Sacramento.

Beckman is endorsed by a growing coalition of more than fifty community leaders and current and former elected officials, including former State Senator Mark Leno, San Rafael Mayor Kate Colin, and Santa Rosa Vice Mayor Eddie Alvarez.

“Eli is the leader we need in Sacramento. He’s bright, thoughtful, experienced, and always looking for new ways to make government better serve our communities.” - Kate Colin, San Rafael Mayor

“I’m supporting Eli Beckman for State Assembly because of his long track record standing up for the people and families trying to make ends meet. He asks the right questions and isn’t afraid to change what doesn’t work.”

- Eddie Alvarez, Santa Rosa Vice Mayor

“As a former state senator who represented the North Bay in Sacramento, I’m proud to support Eli Beckman for State Assembly. He deeply understands our communities and our needs, and will always fight for us.”

- Mark Leno, Former State Senator

ABOUT ELI

Eli is a lifelong resident of the 12th Assembly District. He is a product of the district’s public schools, and attended Cal Poly’s school of architecture. He is a small business owner, and founder and CEO of HAUS+, a sustainable prefab ADU company. In 2018, Eli was elected to the Corte Madera Town Council, becoming the youngest elected official in Marin while earning the most votes in Corte Madera history, and in 2020, he became Corte Madera’s youngest, first Jewish, and first openly LGBT mayor. When he’s not working, Eli’s favorite activities are the ones that celebrate our home’s natural beauty and history: exploring the tidepools of the Pacific coast, hiking the Mt.
